DEAR #NAPIBOWRIWEE FAMILY: My National Picture Book Writing Week event has officially ended as of May 1, 2023. That’s a wrap! I had started this annual event on May 1, 2009 to encourage aspiring and published children’s picture book authors (and myself!) with a fun “Let’s write 7 picture books in 7 days” writing boot camp event inspired by NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I had no idea this fun impulsive event would become an INTERNATIONAL writing event every year from 2009-2019. We have featured interviews with award-winning acclaimed picture book authors who provided writing craft insights and encouragement for everyone. We have bonded with writers from all over the world who participated every year, and even met some of you in real life and forged lifelong friendships. It has been an honor and privilege to write with everyone over the past decade. This website will remain online in archive form for everyone to enjoy reading past author spotlight interviews and our massive comment threads where we cheered each other on.
