NaPiBoWriWee Day Seven – NOT The End!
Saturday May 7, 2011 – 11: 59 PM.
Wow. NaPiBoWriWee 2011 is over!
Did you meet the challenge? Did you write 7 picture books in 7 days? Do you now have seven rough drafts that you can revise lovingly for the rest of the year and shine until they sparkle like diamonds for prospective agents and editors?
If so, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
For those of you who managed to squeak out at least one picture book or even seven sentences – I’m still so proud of you! Writing every day no matter what is a skill that you have now mastered! Bravo!
As always, it has been an honor and privilege to host this crazy event every year. Who knew it would last three whole years? Here’s hoping to another three – or more – years of NaPiBoWriWee!
(Keep reading after the jump for important CONTEST information for those of you who signed up for the annual prize drawing and other info!)

Note: I have read and enjoyed everyone’s comments on my blogs. I haven’t had enough time to reply back to every single comment because I ran out of time due to running this event, writing my blogs, and doing my own writing (not to mention my job and family duties). But please know that I read everyone’s comments and truly treasure and appreciate the community and the dialogue that was formed here this week. Thank you again!
I’m off to collapse now. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Guest Author blogs and the prize announcement! Until then, I leave you with this final quote from one of the most famous picture books ever written…
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
Story and pictures by Maurice Sendak
“Then all around from far away across the world
he smelled good things to eat
so he gave up being king of where the wild things are.
The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth
and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws
but Max stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye
and sailed back over a year
and in and out of weeks
and through a day
and into the night of his very own room
where he found his supper waiting for him
and it was still hot.”
May your suppers always be waiting for you, still hot! 🙂 Happy Writing… WRITE LKE YOU MEAN IT! 🙂
Hip, hip, HOORAY!! Thanks for your hard work, Paula. You have done it again! You kept us all motivated, interested and connected through seven days of cold, hard writing. Congratulations!
Yes, thanks Paula for the crash course, wonderful interviews and daily push to write. It was great fun and I am so grateful!
*smiling and waving* Thank you Paula. I made it. I can’t wait to start revising. Have a wonderful day today. (((hugs)))
I’ve really really enjoyed this week. This is my third NaPiBoWriWee and I’m looking forward to more. The posts were excellent– I appreciated the mix of guests: writers and illustrators who came to the world of picture books from varied backgrounds, open and willing to share their stories and tips. Thank you all.
Thanks also to all the twitterers who provide encouragement and laughs and make this a lot of fun.
And gigantic thanks, once again to PAULA! PAULA! PAULA!(imagine a packed sports stadium chanting your name).
See you all Sunday!
@danaFR
Yipeeee! Thanks for a great week, Paula. I get so much out of this event. Last year I joined and it was here that I met the writer buddies who have cheered me on all year. You are truly an inspiration. NaPiBoWriWee doesn’t really ever stop if you continue to polish those PBs you started here. Some of mine need A LOT of polishing. LOL. I have 7 new ones to choose from this year!
Thank you Paula for being our fearless leader. This year I only completed one picture book but that is one more than I had completed the week before. I did make outlines and notes for six more pb’s which will keep me busy.
thanks again!
I agree! Thank you, Paula, for pulling together such an inspiring forum. Your hard work and great spirit was appreciated by us all.
