NaPiBoWriWee Day Eight: CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

National Picture Book Writing Week Congratulations on finishing the third annual National Picture Book Writing Week from May 1-7, 2011!!!! I’m so excited we were able to make it through together. I’M ALSO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS OF OUR ANNUAL PRIZE DRAWING!!!!

As for moi, I did not write 7 picture books in 7 days, however, given my work schedule and all these blogs! LOL! No surprise there. I ended up writing six very rough first drafts. Okay, when I think about it, make that 5 1/2 drafts. LOL! But again, the whole purpose of NaPiBoWriWee was simply to encourage ALL OF US to write every single day, come rain or shine. I hope you have learned a lot from this process and that you now have some great first drafts that you can really dig into for the rest of the year.

For those of you who have registered to comment on this NaPiBoWriWee blog (link: https://paulayoo.com/napi)… please note that starting next week, I’ll be switching BACK to my other blog – the main Paula Yoo blog. The link on my homepage says “BLOG” or you can go here: https://paulayoo.com/blog

My regular blog will be where I post daily blogs on writing, TV, books, and my cat and foodie adventures, plus other random fun stuff. So you will have to re-register at that blog in order to post comments. I hope you’ll join me there for the rest of the year. I will continue to post an occasional blog at this NaPiBoWriWee link with any NaPiBoWriWee updates, so you can always check back here too. But please note that most of my active blogging for the rest of the year until NaPiBoWriWee 2012 will be at the regular BLOG link.

As for souvenirs, we have T-shirts and coffee mugs, plus a 2011 Notebook, at our store here: http://cafepress.com/napibowriwee

So now, let’s get down to the real nitty gritty… WHO WON??!!!!

Visual proof that I randomly picked names out of a hat for this contest drawing, just like i said I would! 🙂

(Keep reading after the jump to find out who the winners are for this year’s prize giveaway random drawing contest!)

My cat Oreo wonders who will be chosen as the winners of the drawing! Will it be YOU?

2011 NAPIBOWRIWEE PRIZE DRAWING CONTEST WINNERS

Below is a list of the prizes offered at the 2011 National Picture Book Writing Week. I will email the winners individually to arrange for the snail mail delivery of these prizes. I’d like to thank our guest authors again for volunteering their precious time and energy to answer my Q&A blogs and to help out with our contest prizes! I also wish I could give a prize to Every. Single. One. Of. You! But sadly, the prizes are limited and the drawing was done RANDOMLY from a baseball hat. 🙂 So congrats to the winners!

The prizes include some items from our gift store (http://cafepress.com/napibowriwee) and autographed copies of my two books plus books of Erin Eitter Kono, Ken Min, Katie Davis, Hope Vestergaard, Don Tate, Carolyn Crimi, Dan Santat, Janie Bynum, Lisa Wheeler, and Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen. Tara Lazar’s book does not come out yet, so she’s offered a free manuscript critique as a prize. And I have an extra prize – a signed copy of veteran author Ann Whitford Paul’s book on picture book writing!

Without further ado, here are our winners! Congratulations!!!! Stay tuned for an email from me with details on the prize delivery. And thank you again to EVERYONE for participating in this year’s NaPiBoWriWee. 1. I didn’t win an “official” prize, but I still feel like I won! I can do this and hey, I LIKE doing it. Thank you so much Paula and all the guest bloggers! Until next year!

  2. Congratulations to all the winners! And, Congratulations to all of us for an awesome week of writing.

Thank you for doing this, Paula!

Thank you to all the guest authors!

My fear of the first draft is officially conquered. 🙂

  3. Yay! Thanks so much to Paula for the wonderful experience and to Katie and Jerry Davis for “Little Chicken’s Big Day.” I laughed when I saw what I had won because we have four backyard chickens (and fresh eggs every day – yum). I can’t wait to read the book.

This was my first NaPiBoWriWee, too. Although I didn’t write all seven drafts YET, I wrote four and a half and have started a new habit: writing every day!

The reality is that everyone who participated is a winner! Congratulations to all!

    Rita

  4. Yay, I actually won something! And 🙂 though I didn’t get all seven books finished, I did send of one of my manuscripts for submission. So it’s still progress! YAY! 🙂 Thanks for putting this together!

  5. Double yay, I won too!! Thanks so much Paula and Janie. What a great week of writing. I must go back to working on my novel (I put it aside for this—I love when I procrastinate from writing with other writing.) Great fun! Congrats to everyone who participated, we’re all winners!!!

  6. In today’s world, hosting ‘events’ on blogs can be looked at as as strictly common sense platform building. While I think you, Paula, like Katie Davis, are a marketing master and oooo so media savy, that does’nt compare to the human care, outreach, second mile, and heart you show and have shown for the last seven days.

From snippets of participant comments: “no longer afraid of first drafts” “all winners” “now I have 6 new projects underway” “new writing habit”, and my own; “Thank you for being the catalyst to remember how much I love writing, and how all the world is better when I let go and do- and the material turns out not half bad, either!”; I thank you again, Paula, for hosting and nurturing creative work.

Nurturing dreams is no small thing. Thank you to all the guest authors. Thank you to Paula’s unnamed, behind the scenes support and kitty crew. Good luck, Good blessings, Good karma, Natural law, and all that, attend you in your upcoming projects, Paula and all! This was fun. Very.

  7. Thank you Paula for another great week of vomit drafts and fresh sparkly ideas ready to be tuned to perfection.

Congrats to the winners of the schwag, and I echo the idea that we’re all winners.

  8. Eeee! I won! This may be the first time I’ve ever won anything online!

Paula – thank you so much for hosting this PB write-a-thon. I started 5 picture book and finished 2 (two others are very close to being done). Honestly, I didn’t think I had it in me to write even one. I think this was the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I really do feel like I might have picture books in me after all. Thanks again…and um, sign me up for next year. 🙂

  9. I didn’t win, but that’s okay. Congrads to all the peeps that did. But I did win my own prize. Seven great first drafts that I can work on this year. I’ll buy a shirt and wait on next year. Thanks Paula. I can’t imagine how busy you are. And doing NaPiBoWriWee is an added thing. I really appreciate it. More than you’ll ever know. (((hugs)))

  10. Congratulations to all the winners! How awesome is that. I admit, I didn’t get all 7 written either, but I had a lot of fun and have a couple stories I’m definitely going to finish polishing! Many thanks for this encouraging contest.
